Frankie Manning, one of the great Lindy Hoppers has passed. We will miss him dearly. He was an inspiration to us all. He passed on the torch to us, lets keep it alive. Rest in Peace Frankie, you had an amazing life, and we were very lucky to have you be apart of it. Your smile will shine down from Heaven on us. We will miss you....

I had the chance to take a workshop with Frankie, Chazz and Norma Miller back in 1999. It was an amazing time, I learned scissor kicks, shim sham-Frankie style. I also had a chance to see him at Catalina Swing Camp in 2000. He was an amazing dancer who had a great laugh and smile.

Belle's 12th Birthday Party!!!

Hi Friends!

Belle is getting up there in age. This year she will be 12 years old on April 1. Did you know that 12 dog years x 7 human years, means that she will be turning 84. So, with that in mind, we will have a 1980s party for her. We will have a party at the Ocean Beach Dog Beach in Ocean Beach.

Bambi's first time modelling

Hello All,

Bambi, our chihuahua, the newest one to the pack has always been a very nervous dog. I was wondering if he would ever be able to do modeling for Belle Pepper Couture. Both Belle and Pepper love modelling dog clothing and dog collars. Bambi really likes to wear all sorts of dog accessories. He loves them actually. So we had a opportunity to get our handmade product into Pet Style News for editorial. Bambi had to do it, we needed some new product pictures and we didn't have Belle or Pepper with us.

Bambi is modeling the red dog collar on the top of this picture.

All of my collars are available with spikes or rhinestones.

So Bambi took many pictures, and he wasn't sparkling. And I figured it out, he needed better food motivation. We were tempting him with cupcakes!!! That did the trick. :)

This is a bit of late news, but it's still news worthy! Especially since, Pepper is the star. We submitted a picture of Pepper wearing our new Pink Calaveras dress to Pet Style News in December. We didn't hear from them, so we assumed that we didn't make it in. Our Pink Calaveras dress is made of fabrics from Alexander Henry, and the fabric is perfect for Dia de los Muertos, it has sugar skulls printed all over the fabric!

My friend called me to tell me that Pepper was inside the front cover of the Feb/March 2009 Issue of Pet Style News! She was also in the article about Pet Spring Style, titled "Patterning Spring Trends"

Pepper is doing great

Hello All,

I know it's been a while, but I didn't update the blog on Pepper's progress. She is all healed up! She is doing really well. She still wheezes a little bit, but she is back to her old shinanagans. She is just as much as the princess, little spoiled doggie that she is. Many of our friends, and many who don't even know Pepper, helped us!! In many ways. Thank you to all of our friends!!!!

San Fransisco, Pepper and I love it!

Hi All!

We were in lovely San Francisco two weekends ago, and let me tell you, it was just amazing. We brought Pepper with us, since she had a high level of medical care. We had so much fun! Pepper went almost everywhere with me, well since she only weights 5 lbs and she loves her soft carrier, she was virtually invisible to everyone. We went to visit all bunch of dog boutiques in the area. The hills are crazy there, the houses and buildings are beautiful!

On Saturday we started our day early! We dropped off Dan, at the New York Life Building for the conference he was attending and the city was ours! We found this really great little coffee shop called Double Team Coffee, 882 Bush Street(between Mason St & Taylor St)San Francisco, CA 94108. It was great, it was inexpensive and the owner there was really nice! Pepper was excited because she got some of my sesame bagel for breakfast!

I looked over the stores that I wanted to visit, and found several. It was nice to sit down to have breakfast. Pepper and I went to Doe, http://www.doe-sf.com/index.php, 629 Haight St(between Pierce St & Steiner St)San Francisco, CA 94117, what a cool store! It is such a cool place, there are many neat things there, cards, jewelry and cool home goods. That store is cool also because they support local/west coast designers by selling their items. There was a doggie park over by Doe, Duboce Park. This picture is of Pepper being cold. Yes it was on a hill. The park surprisingly didn't have fences around the whole doggie area. It was cool, it looked like the park from the Full House opening.

We went over to Bella and Daisy's, A Dog Bakery and Boutique, http://www.bellaanddaisys.com/, 1750 Union Street, between Octavia & Gough, San Francisco, CA 94123, and Pepper met Bubba and Molly. Bubba is this huge dog, he weights about 230 lbs, and Molly is a yorkie. They all got to hang out and socialize. It is just a lovely store. Did you know that they have a weekly Yappy Hour, every Friday from 5pm-7pm? How cool is that!

On Sunday we went back to the City and visited 1737 Church, the sister store to Doe. They have a lot of the same items as Doe, but they have doggie sweaters! Pepper got to model one of them. She did very well, considering she was still recovering. We were there when the girls were decorating for the Chinese New Year, it was really cool! The next shop that we went to that I just loved was Hazel and Gertie's, http://hazelandgerties.com/, 3385 22nd St(between San Jose Ave & Guerrero St)San Francisco, CA 94110, we met the owner of Small Batch Pets there! All and all, it was a really fun trip, I got to see San Francisco, the non-tourist way. Enjoyed the local flavors and met some really AWESOME people. I hope to visit San Francisco again soon.

Today Pepper was attacked by a coyote in our complex. Bambi and Pepper got out, when we opened the door this morning.

The neighbor said that the coyote picked her up with it's mouth, shook her and started to carry her off. Pepper got away and came back to me. This all happened within a minute. She was still conscience and walking.

We brought her to urgent care and she underwent surgery. Her one of her lungs was punctured, some contusions on her lung and she had some damage to her thorax. The doctor said that she had a 70% chance to survive with treatment. The doctor said that her surgery went perfect, but she still has to stablize and not have complications from the procedure. She is improving after the surgery, her oxygen levels are getting better.
Friends, both Dan and I really need your help. Pepper's vet bill is astronomical. We would appreciate any help in ways of money (any amount will help, $5 or $10 or $20) or if you would like to purchase Belle Pepper Couture product. http://www.bellepeppercouture.com

A dog collar is a requirement for any dog, considering, they are supposed to have their license and tags on them at all times.I have made a bunch of new dog collars for my brand, Belle Pepper Couture.
We use three types of fabric for my dog collars: cotton, vinyl and thai silk. In the future we will have leather with really neat textures.We just started making specialty collars. We now have a pirate collar, dia de los muertos collar!
We carry collars for every size dog! We have the littlest collars that are for teacup size dog all the way up to large breed dogs.We have three widths, and several sizes ranging a few inches, so that the tab of the collar doesn't stick out too far.
Dogs need several cool dog collars to wear. Don't just let your doggie wear the same collar for 3 years!Think about a collar as pair of shoes, or even, as a shirt. Would you wear the same shirt for 3 years, every day non-stop?? We didn't think so.
Our collars are priced so that having a few collars to rotate is a possibility. Accessorizing your dog or pet in a different collar every few days is fun!Have a fancy collar, casual collar, beach collar, holiday collar, the list goes on, as your feelings or moods change.
We pick cool fabrics, ones that would just look amazing on any furry companion.Colors and design inspire our selections, we have been told that we have a good selection of prints.
Construction of the collar? We use nylon thread, so that it doesn't break-it's very durable. Rivets hold together the buckle to the collar.For the bigger sizes, we double up the rivets for an even stronger hold. We make all of my cotton, silk and vinyl collars from scratch in San Diego!!
Customized? Yes! We can customize any collar that we make! It can have spikes, rhinestones, longer, shorter, brass or nickel!The possibilities are endless. Belle's 11th Birthday

I know that it is a week later, but we, here at Belle Pepper Couture, just wanted to acknowledge Belle on her acheivement. She just turned 11 on April 1. She is sleeping right now, while I type away on the keyboard.

This past year has been a big one for Belle. She had her 1oth birthday. She was a pirate girl on Halloween, Belle and Pepper won "Best of Show" for their doggie costumes. Pepper was a Parrot. No one believed that she was a dog, they thought that she was a stuffed bird.

Belle has been a great companion. I have had her since 1997 when I was in college. I got her in Arizona from a breeder that lived off of Bell Road. Well that isn't entirely where I got her name. She was such a beautiful puppy! Belle means beautiful in French. I studied it for 5 years.

Belle got a shiny pink leather collar for her birthday. She just looks so pretty whenever she goes out!

Belle's ultimate favorite food, TOMATOES!! This last year sometimes she would disappear at my mom's house, I would call her, and she wouldn't come. So finally, I would take a look around the property, and guess where she was? She was at the wild tomato bush eating them off the plant!

She is always wanting to play! We will be watching a movie and she will bring a toy to us, so that we can throw it to fetch.

We love you Belle, and we are so lucky to have you in our lives!!!

Hello! So many new exciting things are happening this week! The San Diego North Park Craft Mafia will be hosting the "Spring Line Up" this Sunday, March 30. On Saturday, March 29th the San Diego Indie fest will be held in North Park. So spend the night in North Park, wake up late and come relax at our event, unwind the week, shop while listening to other local musicians. We will be having our Spring Line Up on March 30, 2008. This event is going to be amazing! Our event is sponsored by City Beat! We will have over 60 vendors selling handmade items that range from Dog Collars (Belle Pepper Couture), Purses, Jewelry, Clothing and More! We will have entertainment, bands, a fashion show, and demos that will feature, Sew Hut and the amazing machines they sell, and Dr. Sketchy will have a life drawing session with models!

Poochie Palace Boutique

The Poochie Palace Boutique is a great place to shop for your pampered pets in Winnemucca, Nevada. Christina is the owner, she is very friendly and is nice to work with. The Poochie Palace sells Belle Pepper Couture collars and jewelry. She has Roxy and Paris, two of the sweetest doggies, and probably almost the most pampered in Winnemucca.

We attended their grand opening. It was such a nice town and all of the people there are so nice.

It was a nice vacation from the hustle and bustle of California.

It was the first time that Pepper was in snow! We probably looked funny, putting our dog on the snow on the side of the road or in a parking lot to get a photo of a little doggie standing on a pile of dirty snow. :)

New Store-Pawparazzi

Hello All,

I had a meeting at Pawparazzi on Tuesday. It was great! Bianca is really nice, and we had a great talk. We talked about Pet Fashion week in New York. How fun would that be to go to that event! I definately want to go. We discussed a Trunk Show in April. I will post when a date is set. I would be selling my dog jewelry, dog collars and dog clothing. Who is Belle Pepper Couture?

The history of Belle Pepper Couture 101.

Back in the old days of 1997, Belle came into my life. I wanted her to have really cool things to wear and there wasn't that much then, the most you could find was a mass produced dog sweater from a major pet supply chain store. Belle had to wait.

We moved back to California a bit after I graduated from Arizona State University. I was always on a look out for great items for dogs, and didn't really see them. In 2005, while working for a major jewelry designer, a dog boutique opened near by. I started to go there and found there was a lot of great stuff, and I could make it better.

I started Belle Pepper Couture, without the name, by designing jewelry for pets. Great! They were selling. Then Pepper came to us. She has been such a great dog! She was named Pepper when we got her, and we thought it was so cute that Belle and Pepper together were a vegetable!
I was searching for a name, and it just hit me, BELLE PEPPER. Then I thought, how about Belle Pepper Couture, high fashion. OH! That's it! Since then, I have designed an entire line of dog jewelry, dog collars, and unique dog clothing items.

Once we launced the website, we had got a great response! We have advertised in Dog Fancy three times. My brand is sold in 3 stores, and 1 more in April. I have had an article written about my business. It has been really a great pleasure doing this business.

Belle Pepper Couture designs were inspired by our dogs Belle, Pepper and now Bambi. We wanted to find unusual things for our dogs, and didn't find what we liked. I think that is how most ideas start. All of the BPC branded items are all very unique and original. I am constantly coming up with new ideas and love meeting people that have dogs, and similar interests as me.
